Why Eco Fur? What are the 'eco' benefits?"
possum fur from new zealand
The world's only environmentally friendly fur.
The use of Brushtail Possum fur is supported by New Zealand's Department of Conservation and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and other
conservation organizations. A native of Australia, where it has natural predators and a harsher environment to contend with, the Brushtail
Possum has thrived in the favourable conditions of New Zealand since it's introduction in 1837. It is now estimated that the New Zealand
possum population now tops 70million and that they eat their way through 22,000 tons of vegetation per night.
Why are they a problem? The extensive damage to native forests can be seen all too clearly in many areas. In some areas they have
eaten whole canopies of rata, totara, titoki, kowhai and kohekohe and in this process have destroyed the natural protection and home of many
native species.
We deal only with carefully selected supply partners and you can be assured that the possum fur that you buy has come through a
reputable and humane supply chain.
The use of possum fur is thus encouraged by conservation groups and the sales of Brushtail Possum fur products play an important role
in the conservation of New Zealand's fauna, flora and wildlife and is helping to preserve the natural beauty of the country.

Just to let you know that I received the slippers today and I am totally delighted with them, as I'm sure my daughter will be at Christmas. They must be the softest slippers I have ever felt. I think I'll be dropping hints till next Christmas for a pair of my own! Many thanks for your excellent service.
